Dr. Phil Stapp

Phil and Pam Stapp moved to North Carolina in 1985 with the express purpose of helping the Kingdom of God grow in this area. For the past 30 years they have worked with the Brewer Rd. Church of Christ and the South Fork Church of Christ in Winston-Salem. They are excited about their new life and ministry in Wilmington.

They met and married in Memphis, TN in 1981, lived in Birmingham, AL for two years while working with the Central Church of Christ before moving to Winston-Salem. They have two sons, Danny and David. Danny is married to Heather and they have a son, Jackson. They live in Wilson NC. David is married to Kayla and they live in Ashville, NC.

Phil is a graduate of Lubbock Christian University, Harding School of Theology and Fuller Theological Seminary. He enjoys reading, watching sports, fishing and golf. Pam is a graduate of Abilene Christian University and enjoys reading, walks on the beach and spending time with Jackson.

Elder

Mark Bishop

Mark was born and raised in Indianapolis Indiana, and was baptized into Christ at the age of 13 at the Speedway church of Christ. He attended Purdue University and graduated from Pharmacy school there in 1976. Mark started his professional career as a small town pharmacist, but transitioned to a sales and marketing job with Eli Lilly and company in 1980.

Singing acapella gospel music has been a long time passion of Mark and he serves as one of our song leaders. He has also been active in teaching bible classes and currently coordinates the teachers for our children and youth classes.

Mark married his wife Ellen in 1975, and they moved around from northern Indiana, to Iowa, back to Indiana, and then to Wilmington, NC in 1992. They have 5 children ranging in age from 35 to 19.
 


Elder

Floyd Kirby

Floyd was born in Carthage, TN. Later his family moved to Greensboro, NC where he graduated from Ragsdale HS , in Jamestown, NC. He later graduated David Lipscomb College in Nashville, TN.
 
Floyed and Linda were married in 1964 and they have lived in Jacksonville FL, Greensboro and Wilmington. He has worked in textile , transportation and insurance industries. He has also worked for the State of NC as an employment consultant for several years and is currently empolyed by Cape Fear Council of Government as an employment consultant with the New Hanover Workforce Center.
 
Floyed has served PVCC as a deacon and an Elder.

Deacon - Benevolence

John Bennett

John has served as the deacon of benevolence at Pine Valley Church of Christ since February 13, 2011.

He has been married to Judy since 1980 and they have one son, Joshua and one daughter, Jacqueline. John works in the janitorial sales industry.

 


Deacon - Building & Grounds

Tony Rudkin

Tony Rudkin has served as a Pine Valley Church of Christ deacon since 2011 in the area of Building and Grounds.  Tony had previously served as a deacon from 1993 until 2006 working in such areas as Building and Grounds, visitation and assisting with the youth group.  Tony has two children, Kaylee and Keith and a Grandson Brayden Thomas Rundkin.  Tony works in the Utility Industry as a Nuclear Planner.

Ron Flynn

Ron Flynn was born on June 19th 1953 in New Hanover County, NC and raised in Riegelwood, NC where he graduated from Acme Delco High School in 1971. Following High School Ron went to Cape Fear Community College receiving an Associate’s degree in Applied Sciences in Marine Biology.  He then spent time in Rochester, New York and some time in Toronto Canada working with the Canadians on Lake Ontario. In September of 1973 Ron went to work at E. I. DuPont de Nemours at the Cape Fear Plant in Leland, N.C. until it closed in 2013. He now works for Custom Metal Products in Wilmington.

Ron married to Janey Merrill on August 21st 1976 and they have one son, Michael, who lives and works in the Wilmington area. Ron was baptized into Christ in 2013 and was selected to serve as a deacon at Pine Valley in 2015.


Deacon - Communications

Mark Andrews

Mark Andrews has been a member of the Pine Valley Church of Chirst since August of 2002.  Currently, Mark oversees the audio/video systems utilized during Church services, the church website and other avenues of communication to the congregation.

Mark also teaches various Sunday school classes and assists with yard work activities for the elderly. He and his wife Sherry have two sons, Grant and Tyler.


Deacon - Seniors

Herky Hardison

Robert (Herky) P. Hardison, Jr. was born in Lewisburg, TN (1937). He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy (1961) and served 20 years in the U.S. Navy. After retiring from the Navy, Herky worked for the Department of the Navy as a Civil Service engineer for 20 more years. After retiring from the government in 2005, he moved to Wilmington, NC to be close to his daughter and her family.

Herky was baptized in the Atlantic Ocean at Virginia Beach, VA on 7 April 1974 by Melvin Vaughan. He served as a deacon and an elder at the Norfolk Church of Christ, Norfolk, VA for 30 years. He has served Pine Valley as an elder and is currently leading our Seniors Ministry.
Herky is married to his high school sweetheart, Gayle Thompson (David Lipscomb ’59) in June 1961. They have two children, a son Rob (Harding University ’88) and a daughter Dixie (David Lipscomb ’88).  Herky enjoys being with his granddaughters, Shelby and Sara, gardening, and playing golf. 

His favorite scripture is Romans 8:38-39

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
