About Us

 What To Expect

If you are a first time visitor and not familiar with churches of Christ here's what you can expect when you visit us:

We have a 45 minute Bible class for all ages at 9:30 each Sunday morning. These classes are available for all ages, preschool through adult taught by our members and are an excellent way to learn about and discuss God's word.

Our Worship begins in the auditorium at 10:30 and usually lasts about an hour.

Worship consists of acappella singing of hymns and praises to God. We do not use musical instruments in our worship because the first century church did not use them and we try to worship according to Biblical example of what was and is pleasing to God.

Communion or The Lord's Supper is observed every week and is for anyone present who wishes to remember our Lord's death until He comes again. You do not have to be a member of our congregation to partake in this observance!

We also have public prayer offered for those who are in need of God's special blessing. If you have a specific prayer request, there is a time during our announcements to make that known or you can speak to our evangelist or one of our elders privately before or after the services.

Every Sunday during worship we have a Biblical lesson presented by our pulpit minister/ evangelist, or occasionally a guest speaker.

If there is anything about our worship service that you do not understand, please do not hesitate to ask!

Thank you for choosing to visit Pine Valley Church of Christ!

Our Beliefs

About God

There is only one God. God exists eternally in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are equal, and each possess all the attributes of God. God is the creator and sustainer of the universe and everything in it. (Gen 1:1, 26-27;    Ps. 90:2; Matt 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14)

About Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the son of God. He is one with the God the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is our Savior, who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for all sin, and was raised from the grave after three days to demonstrate His defeat of sin and death. He ascended into heaven and is preparing a place for the faithful to live with Him for eternity. (Matt. 1:22-23; John 1:1-5; Heb. 14-15; 1 Cor. 15:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; Col. 2:9-10; 1 Tim 6:14-15)

About the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is one with God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son. Those who are baptized into Christ will receive the Holy Spirit to live inside them. The Holy Spirit serves as our comforter, guide, and advocate. The Holy Spirit is given to Christians and provides guidance in living, an understanding of the Bible, and prayerful intercession. (Acts 1:8; Acts 2:38; John 14:16-17; 16:7-13; Gal. 5:25;    1 Cor. 2:12, 3:16 ; Eph. 1:13; 2 Cor. 13:14; 1 Pet.1:2)

About the Bible

Our foundation is based firmly upon the Bible as our ultimate authority on Christian beliefs and a guide to living. The Bible is divinely inspired by God, without error, given to man so that we may know and understand the truth of God and His love. (2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:20-21; Ps. 12: 6; 119:105)

About Salvation

Salvation is not something that can be purchased or earned. It is a free gift from God provided by Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and is received through faith. It is available to everyone who confesses that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior and expresses that faith through repentance of sin and baptism by full immersion for the forgiveness of those sins. (John 3:16Acts 4:12Acts 2:38Rom. 6:3-5Rom. 5:10Rom. 6:23Rom. 10:9-10Eph. 2:8-10)

About Eternity

People were created to exist forever. Every person will either exit eternally in union with God in heaven through following Jesus Christ or be eternally separated from God in hell due to refusing to follow Him. ( John 14:2-3John 14: 61 Thess. 4:13-182 Thess. 1:6-10Rev. 20:11-15)

About the Local Church

We are an independent, nondenominational congregation of the church of Christ. We are not affiliated with any counsel, board, or national organization that oversees our activities and worship. Our only hierarchy beyond the local congregation is the Lord Jesus himself, who is our head. Our congregation is led by elders who are responsible for the spiritual needs of the church and deacons who oversee the physical needs of the church. Although there are several Biblical terms for elders, including overseers, shepherds, pastors, or bishops, we don't use these terms as titles, only job descriptions. We are all just brothers and sisters in Christ. Everyone in the church of Christ is a minister, because minister simply means "servant" and we are all servants in some capacity. We have some ministers with specific duties such as our preaching minister, or evangelist. We also have ministry leaders over areas like benevolence and member involvement, but we all serve, and are therefore ministers. (Eph. 1:22-23Col. 1:181 Tim. 3:1-3Titus 1:51 Tim. 3:8-13Acts 6:1-7Eph. 4:11-131 Pet. 4:10)

Our Vision

We believe Pine Valley will be a growing, dynamic congregation of multi-cultural members who are actively engaged in the service of one another and our community in the name of Jesus Christ.

How will we accomplish this vision? By fixing our eyes on Jesus and living as he did. We will put our focus on reaching out to the lost and hurting in our community.

Like Jesus we will be the good news as well as proclaim the good news. Our leaders will teach, prepare, equip and mentor our members to do works of service. Our teaching will be biblical while also being culturally relevant and will encourage, train and equip us to live like Jesus in our community.

Our worship will be biblical, relevant and inspiring, encouraging us to “go out” and be
the good news. Our time together will be encouraging, supportive, healing and intimate. Our outreach and mission work will be focused and “on purpose.”

We will, through our service, be seen as light and salt in our community. We will reach out to and serve all ages, races and cultures. We will teach and train our children and youth to live like Jesus, preparing them to be the servant leaders of the future. Our church family will seek peace, love and unity in Jesus Christ. We will show the world that we belong to Him by our love for one another. In all things, we will depend on God, follow Jesus and be led by the Spirit.
